Its story
Malkara is Tekirdağ's largest district by area and, with its broad farmland and pastures, a region where livestock farming is important. The aged kaşar cheese (eski kaşar) matured here for a long time received a geographical indication for its local production method. The sharp-flavored cheese is an important part of Thracian breakfasts and meze. The market and delicatessens in the district center are good places to find this cheese.
