Its story
The church about 100 meters east of the Şahkulu Bey Mansion belongs to the Chaldean Catholic community. According to sources it was completed between 397 and 430 and has a domed structure. Inside are the graves of two metropolitans, decorated with embroidery-like carving and bearing their dates of death. In the divanhane (reception hall) added later, an ornate fireplace known to have been made in 1902 and bearing an Ottoman tughra is striking. Its location on the route between the Ulu Mosque and the Kırklar Church makes it easy to add to a walk through the old city.
