Its story
The han on the Malatya–Sivas road was commissioned by the Malatya physician (hekim) Ebû Sâlim b. Ebü'l-Hasan; construction began in 1218 and the building was completed in the reign of Alâeddin Keykubad I. It is popularly known as Taşhan. One of its construction inscriptions is written in three languages, Arabic, Armenian and Syriac, a rare feature among Anatolian Seljuk hans. The sultan's han-type building has a large courtyard surrounded by iwans and a covered section divided into three aisles by two rows of stone columns. Repaired in 1660 by the Ottoman architect Hasan Ağa, the han is largely in ruins today.
