Martyr Standard-Bearer Mehmetçik Monument

A monument on Zafertepe erected in memory of a soldier who did not let go of his standard during the Great Offensive.
Its story
The monument is on Zafertepe near Zafertepeçalköy. According to accounts, on August 31, 1922, a standard-bearer buried in the earth by artillery fire did not let go of the standard even though he had died; the monument depicts this scene. Its surroundings host the Victory Day ceremonies every August 30.
