Its story
The castle was built in the Byzantine period on a steep rocky hill rising above the city and was strengthened with two rings of walls. The pentagonal inner castle extends over a circuit of about three kilometers and is protected on all four sides by rocky slopes. In the Germiyanoğulları period, the Kale-i Bâlâ Mosque was added to the northeast of the castle. From the walls there is a wide view of Kütahya's red-tiled roofs and its plain.
