A historic mosque, also known as the Salih Bey Mosque, commissioned by Emir Zahireddin Mahmud in 1333 in the Ilkhanid period.
Its story
According to the legible parts of its inscription, the Bünyan Ulu Mosque was commissioned in 734 (1333) by Emir Zahireddin Mahmud, son of Tac-ı Kızıl, one of the Ilkhanid governors; its architect is understood to have been Kâlûyân. It is also known as the Cami-i Kebir and, after the person who repaired it, the Salih Bey Mosque. It is one of Bünyan's oldest buildings and the focus of the historic fabric of the district center. Bünyan is also known for its geographically indicated hand-woven carpet.
