Historic Stone Bridge (Taşköprü)
Taşköprü, Kastamonu
A seven-span, 68-meter historic stone bridge over the Gökırmak, which gave the district its name.
Its story
Taşköprü is a seven-span stone bridge over the Gökırmak, built in the period of the Çobanoğulları Principality, and is about 68 meters long. The district also takes its name from this bridge. The bridge is still in use today and connects the district center to the opposite bank of the river. Together with the ancient city of Pompeiopolis right opposite and the garlic festival held every August, it is one of the main stops of a trip to Taşköprü. In the late afternoon its reflection in the river offers the best hours for photography.
