Büyük Çamlıca Mosque
Üsküdar, İstanbul
Türkiye's largest mosque, opened in 2019 on Büyük Çamlıca Hill; its six minarets can be seen from many parts of the city.
Its story
Following construction that began in 2013, the mosque opened for worship in 2019. Interpreting classical Ottoman mosque architecture, the building defines the hill's skyline with its six minarets and large courtyard. The complex includes an art gallery, a library, a conference hall and the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Arts. From the mosque courtyard there is a wide view of both shores of İstanbul and the Bosphorus.
