Bozdoğan Aqueduct (Aqueduct of Valens)

A 4th-century Roman–Byzantine aqueduct spanning Atatürk Boulevard.

Its story
The aqueduct was completed in the late 4th century in the reign of the Roman Emperor Valens and carried water to the center of the historic peninsula, spanning the valley between the city's third and fourth hills. In the Byzantine period it was one of the last links of the long water supply system coming from Thrace. It was also repaired in the Ottoman period and used to supply water to Topkapı Palace and the city's fountains. Today a section of about 900 meters still stands and can be viewed from Saraçhane Park.
