Its story
The mosque was built by Necmeddin Ferruh, vizier of the Seljuk Sultan Gıyaseddin Keyhüsrev II, and his brother Haznedar (treasurer) Yusuf, and completed in the 1240s. It takes its name ('twisted minaret') from the spiral grooves encircling the minaret shaft. The octagonal, pyramid-roofed tomb beside it is a typical example of Seljuk tomb architecture. The Ilkhanid-era mummies displayed at the Amasya Museum were found during work around this mosque.
