Its story

Çadır Höyük is on the Kanak Suyu plain, near the village of Peyniryemez attached to Sorgun, about 13 km northwest of Alişar. On the mound, measuring 240 x 140 meters and rising 32 meters from the plain, settlement has been found to go back to around 5200 BC. The mound was inhabited from the 4th millennium BC to the Hellenistic period and was also used intensively in the Late Roman and Byzantine periods. Its first excavation director, Ronald Gorny, identified it with Zippalanda, the cult center of the Hittite Storm God. Excavations at the site began in the 1990s.
