Atatürk and Liberation Monument

A large figurative monument on 15 Temmuz Şehitler Meydanı telling of Uşak's liberation in the War of Independence.
Its story
The monument is on 15 Temmuz Şehitler Meydanı (July 15 Martyrs' Square) in Uşak city center, on İsmetpaşa Caddesi, and is the work of the sculptor Prof. Dr. Tankut Öktem. The composition, about 30 meters long and 17 meters high, consists of three groups of figures on a base. The first group symbolizes the liberation of Uşak by Turkish cavalry; the central victory column and Atatürk figure, independence; and young people carrying books inscribed with science and art, the future. The third group commemorates the women who supported the front during the War of Independence. The square is the city's meeting point and the place where official ceremonies are held.
