Its story
The TDV Encyclopedia of Islam gives the Elti Hatun Mosque the date 650 (1252). The mosque, rectangular in plan along a north–south axis, consists of a prayer hall with its entrance on the east facade and a narthex adjoining it to the north, closed on four sides; it is built of cut and rough-hewn stone, covered with vaults inside and a flat roof outside. It has a fountain adjoining its north facade. The nearby Elti Hatun Tomb is dated to the late 12th to early 13th century: the iwan-shaped entrance of the tomb, which has an octagonal body and pyramidal cap and is built entirely of cut stone, is considered a remarkable example in Anatolia of an arrangement seen in Central Asian Turkish art. A legend about the building and the graves inside is also told locally.
