Its story
Samuha is a Hittite city at Kayalıpınar, on the north bank of the Kızılırmak, about 40 kilometers west of Sivas. It appears in Hittite texts as an important religious center; in the 14th century BC, during the Kaska raids, it served as the kingdom's military operations base and for a time as its capital. Excavations have found buildings from the Assyrian Trade Colonies Period such as the 'House of Tamura' and the 'House of Tatali', as well as traces of the great fire that ended this period. After the fire, the Hittites founded a new city on the site with a palace complex. The site is an excavation site; check the access situation before visiting.
