Its story
Kesik Köprü was built in 1213, in the Anatolian Seljuk period, over the Kızılırmak on the old Kayseri road. In the Sivas tax and endowment registers dated 1574 it appears as the 'Gürcü Hüseyin Bridge'; the name Kesik Köprü (Broken Bridge) was given in the 19th century. It is recorded that the bridge was commissioned by the Seljuk commander Yavaş Arslan, who later took the name Hüseyin. The bridge, consisting of two sections joined by an earth-filled causeway, is 326.35 meters long in total and 4.85 meters wide. With its 19 round- and pointed-arched spans, it is one of the long Seljuk bridges of Anatolia.
