Its story

The Hacı Murat Hanı is on the old Suşehri–Niksar caravan road passing through the Kelkit Çayı (Kelkit Stream) valley and is accepted as one of the caravanserais of the Anatolian Seljuk period. Built entirely of cut stone, the building measures about 20 × 100 meters. Its walls remain standing, while its roof collapsed in the 1939 Erzincan earthquake. The remaining sections have also been damaged over time by treasure hunters. On the rocky outcrop right nearby are the remains of the Lower Castle (Kale-i Zir).
