Paşa Bastions (Paşa Tabyaları)
Merkez, Sinop
A crescent-shaped coastal bastion built on the southeast of the peninsula during the Crimean War to protect Sinop against attacks from the sea.
Its story
The Paşa Tabyası was built to defend the city during the Crimean War (1853–1856), after the Ottoman fleet was attacked by the Russian fleet in Sinop harbor in 1853. The semicircular-plan structure has an eleven-gun battery layout, an ammunition store and basement sections. The bastion is used today as a landscaped area open to visitors and, with its position overlooking the sea, offers beautiful views at sunset. After the fortress, the prison and the museums, it is a stop that completes the city's military history.
