Its story
Boyabat Castle is built on the southern of two steep rocky hills facing each other in the Gökırmak Valley. Its construction is attributed to the Paphlagonians in the 7th century BC; the castle, which bears late Roman and early Byzantine traces, took its present appearance largely in the Ottoman period. Since it has no inscription, its exact construction date is unknown. In 2018 the castle was included in the Ministry of Culture and Tourism's list of 'Türkiye's 13 most magnificent castles'. From the hill, the district center and the valley can be seen from a wide angle.
