Onur Monument (Monument of Honor)

A bronze monument unveiled in 1932, showing Atatürk on a rearing horse; it was made with donations from the people of Samsun.
Its story
The monument, commissioned from an Austrian sculptor, was paid for with money collected by the people of Samsun. The bronze statue, brought to the city on 15 November 1931 and unveiled on 15 January 1932, depicts Atatürk on a rearing horse. Including its pedestal, it is about 8.85 meters high; two reliefs on the pedestal show scenes from the National Struggle.
