Its story
The Alacami rises on the site of the ancient city of Flaviopolis, on top of a building from the Roman and Byzantine periods. The building, used as a church in the Byzantine period, was converted into a mosque in the Turkish period and a minaret was added. The use of stones of different colors is said to be the source of its name (ala: motley). In the center of Kadirli, it is one of the rare standing buildings remaining from the ancient city.
