Hacı Şeref Mosque
Merkez, Muş
A domed mosque built in the 17th century in Muş's historic bazaar, on the site of the Seljuk-period Arslanlı Han.
Its story
The mosque is in the city's historic bazaar area, about 65–70 meters east of the Ulu Mosque. According to sources it was built in the 17th century inside the Arslanlı Han, known as a Seljuk building; very little of the han has survived, and the lion statue said to belong to the han is preserved elsewhere. The square-plan main space is covered with a large dome in the middle and low domes at the sides; the mihrab is plain, in the form of a round-arched niche. The minaret was added to the building in 1902, and the narthex in 1997. It can be seen on the same walking route as the Ulu Mosque and the Alaaddin Bey Mosque.
