Sekibaşı Mosque
Menteşe, Muğla
A 19th-century Muğla mosque in the Muslihittin neighborhood, known for its wooden minaret.
Its story
The Sekibaşı Mosque stands in Muğla's Muslihittin neighborhood, on the street that bears its name. Its construction date and founder are not known for certain; it is thought to have been built in the 1800s. When the building was repaired in 1872 by Kabasakal Mehmet Ağa, a wooden minaret was added. With its wooden minaret, it is a small but original example reflecting the traditional building character of the city.
