Pınara Ancient City
Seydikemer, Muğla
A large Lycian city at the foot of a huge rock mass carved with hundreds of rock tombs.
Its story
Pınara was one of the great cities of Lycia, founded at the foot of Babadağ (ancient Kragos), west of the Eşen River. The sheer rock face rising behind the city is covered with hundreds of rock tombs lined up like a honeycomb. In the lower city are a theater, an odeon, a temple and a relief-decorated monumental tomb known as the royal tomb. The forested, quiet site offers a Lycian experience away from the crowds.
