Loryma Ancient City
Marmaris, Muğla
Hellenistic fortress remains at the southern tip of the Bozburun Peninsula, overlooking Bozukkale bay.
Its story
In antiquity, Loryma lay at the westernmost tip of the lands on the coast opposite Rhodes (the Rhodian Peraea). The long Hellenistic wall and towers on the hill overlooking present-day Bozukkale bay show that the bay was a strategic harbor. Ancient sources mention it as a refuge for the Rhodian fleet. The site is mostly reached by boat or by footpaths on the Carian Trail.
