The Atatürk and National Sovereignty Monument is on Cumhuriyet Meydanı (Republic Square) in central Manisa. The monument was designed by the sculptor Tankut Öktem and unveiled in 1985. The square is the main venue for official holiday ceremonies and public events in the city. The monument is within walking distance of the historic bazaar in Şehzadeler and the area around Hatuniye Mosque.
