Its story
The waterfall formed at a break in slope linked to a fault line on the Şuhul Stream, a tributary of the Tohma River. After its springs, the stream passes for about 2 km through a canyon up to 60 meters deep, and at the end of the canyon it falls in three steps from a total height of about 25 meters; a plunge pool has formed at its base. Formerly called Aşudu after the nearby village and then Gürpınar, the waterfall now bears the name Günpınar. The area was declared a nature park on 26 June 2018. It is reported that the flow has decreased compared with the past because water is supplied to Darende; for this reason the waterfall is at its most spectacular in spring.
