A historic Kütahya house believed to have belonged to the family of the traveler Evliya Çelebi, restored and turned into a museum.
Its story
The building known as the house of the famous traveler Evliya Çelebi (1611-1683), whose family was from Kütahya, was restored and opened as a museum through the joint work of Kütahya Municipality and the Evliya Çelebi Cultural Services and Historic Monuments Restoration Association. It is in the Saray neighborhood, on Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bulvarı. The house displays material related to Evliya Çelebi's life and his Seyahatnâme (Book of Travels). The adjoining building has a section presenting Kütahya's traditional handicrafts.
