The Hirfanlı Dam was built on the Kızılırmak between Kırşehir and Şereflikoçhisar between 1953 and 1959 for energy production and flood control. At normal water level the lake area is about 263 km², and it is among Türkiye's large reservoirs. The Kırşehir Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism presents Hirfanlı among the province's dams and lakes. The lake's shores facing the Kaman district are popular for their calm views, sunsets and amateur fishing.
