Its story
Vize, known in antiquity as Bizye, was the capital of the Thracian Astai tribe and of the last Thracian kings. The castle on the acropolis hill is known to consist of two concentric rings of walls and to have been renewed under Justinian; the western and southern walls are relatively intact. On the slope of the acropolis, the seating rows, stage and orchestra of the ancient theater discovered in the 1990s can be seen. Vize joined the Cittaslow (slow city) network in 2012; the castle and theater are visited together on a short walk.
