Alpullu Bridge
Babaeski, Kırklareli
The 124-meter Sinanlı Bridge over the Ergene, thought to have been commissioned from Mimar Sinan by Sokollu Mehmed Paşa.
Its story
Alpullu Bridge, also known as the Sinanlı or Mehmed Paşa Bridge, is near the Alpullu railway station. It has no inscription; but because it appears in Mimar Sinan's lists of works as the Mehmed Paşa Bridge, it is thought to have been commissioned by Sokollu Mehmed Paşa in the second half of the 16th century. The bridge, about 124 meters long, was repaired in 1983–87. Because the course of the Ergene was changed, it stands today over a dry plain.
