Its story
Büklükale is on a hill overlooking the river, on the section of the road from Ankara to Kaman just before it crosses the Kızılırmak. In excavations carried out since 2009 by a team from the Japanese Institute of Anatolian Archaeology, different cultural layers have been identified, and it has become clear that the settlement was an important urban center in the late 2nd millennium BC, in the Hittite Imperial age. Hellenistic-period finds have also been recovered. Works from the excavations are displayed at the Kaman-Kalehöyük Archaeology Museum in Kırşehir. The historic Çeşnigir Bridge is at the foot of the mound.
