Its story
Sultan Sazlığı is a wetland formed in the lowest part of the Develi closed basin, at an altitude of about 1,000 meters, in the triangle formed by Kayseri's Develi, Yahyalı and Yeşilhisar districts. The area, where freshwater reed beds and the salty Yay Lake exist side by side, was registered in 1994 as a wetland of international importance under the Ramsar Convention and declared a national park on 17 March 2006. The park of about 24,357 hectares is a breeding and stopover area for many waterbirds, above all flamingos. Visitors can watch the birds from observation towers and walkways.
