Güpgüpoğlu Mansion Ethnography Museum
Melikgazi, Kayseri
One of the finest examples of Kayseri's historic mansion architecture, with an ethnography museum in its selamlık section and a 'museum house' in its harem section.
Its story
The Güpgüpoğlu Mansion, with its two-story cut-stone structure and decorated interiors, is one of the finest examples of the traditional Kayseri house. The Kayseri Ethnography Museum, which had served in the Hunat Hatun Madrasa since 1969, moved to this mansion in 1998. The harem section to the right of the entrance has been arranged as a 'museum house' furnished with period items, and the selamlık section to the left as an ethnography museum. The mansion, right next to the castle, is easily added to a historic walk in the city center.
