Its story
The Küre Mountains National Park is in the Western Black Sea Karst Belt and is surrounded by the Azdavay, Pınarbaşı, Ulus, Kurucaşile, Amasra and Cide districts. The most sensitive part of the forests was declared a national park in 1999–2000, and the area received PAN Parks certification in 2012. More than 1000 plant species, mammals including the lynx, otter and brown bear, and 129 bird species have been recorded in the park. The Valla, Horma, Çatak and Aydos canyons, the Ilıca Waterfall and the Ilgarini and Kemerli caves are the park's main attractions. Waymarked hiking routes and village guesthouses make the area suitable for a nature trip of several days.
