Safety warning
Its story
The mosque was built in 1643 by Dilaver Paşa, beylerbeyi of Kars in the reign of Sultan İbrahim. After the Ottoman-Russian War of 1877–78, it was burned and destroyed during the years of Russian rule, and it was damaged again in the First World War and in subsequent earthquakes. It acquired its present appearance with a comprehensive repair in 1997; this repair largely changed the building's original fabric. As it is at the foot of the castle, in the same historic neighborhood as the Kümbet Mosque and the Evliya Mosque, it is one of the natural stops on a walk through Kaleiçi.
