Its story
The museum opened in 1980 with the collection of Sadberk Hanım, wife of Vehbi Koç, and was Türkiye's first private museum. The section in the Azaryan Yalı displays Ottoman-period garments, embroidery, tiles and silverware, while the building next to it displays archaeological artifacts from Anatolia's various civilizations. The collection is enriched by re-creations of traditions such as the bridal gown and the henna night. The museum is located in Büyükdere Bay on the Bosphorus.
