Its story
The Rumeli Lighthouse is a French-designed lighthouse built in 1856, during the Crimean War, at the European entrance to the Bosphorus, and it is still in use. On the village shore are the remains of the Rumeli Feneri Castle, renovated in the Ottoman period, and a rocky headland associated in mythology with the clashing rocks through which the Argonauts passed. The fishing harbor and the views of the Black Sea and the Bosphorus entrance from the rocks make the village appealing for photography and short walks.
