A private museum known for its Orientalist painting collection and Osman Hamdi Bey's 'The Tortoise Trainer'.
Its story
The museum was opened in 2005 by the Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation in the former Bristol Hotel building. Its permanent collections include Orientalist paintings that reflect the Ottoman world through the eyes of Western painters, Anatolian weights and measures, and Kütahya tiles and ceramics. Osman Hamdi Bey's 'The Tortoise Trainer' (Kaplumbağa Terbiyecisi) is the best-known work in the collection. The museum is also known for its international temporary exhibitions and film programs.
