Its story
The core of the bazaar is the Cevahir Bedesten and the Sandal Bedesten, built in the reign of Mehmed the Conqueror. Over time shops, streets and hans were added around the bedestens, forming a large trading structure covered with domes and vaults. Repaired many times after earthquakes and fires, the bazaar remains a place where jewelers, carpet dealers, antique dealers and craftspeople come together. The historic hans around it, such as the Zincirli, Büyük Valide and Çuhacı hans, are inseparable parts of the bazaar's fabric.
