Khedive's Pavilion (Hidiv Kasrı)
Beykoz, İstanbul
An Art Nouveau pavilion on the Çubuklu heights, commissioned by Khedive Abbas Hilmi Paşa of Egypt, with a grove and rose garden.
Its story
The pavilion was commissioned in 1907 by Abbas Hilmi Paşa, the last Khedive of Egypt, to a design by the Italian architect Delfo Seminati. With its tower, Art Nouveau decoration and domed entrance hall, it is one of the most striking pavilions on the Bosphorus. Passing to the İstanbul Municipality in the Republican period, the pavilion has been used as a social facility since its restoration. The surrounding grove, with walking paths and roses that bloom in spring, is open to the public.
