Its story
Alemdağ, known as Meludion in the Byzantine period, is a hill made up of Paleozoic rocks. The boundary between two different types of vegetation found on the Kocaeli Peninsula passes through this mountain; humid forests grow on its northern slopes and drier forests on its southern slopes. Its forested slopes, picnic areas and walking paths make it a natural area suited to weekend getaways. The spring waters around Taşdelen are also among the area's well-known features.
