Its story
Seleukeia Sidera was founded in the Hellenistic period by one of the Seleucid kings to protect the military road passing through northern Pisidia. The part of its name meaning "iron" points to the ironworks in the area. In the Roman period Emperor Claudius reorganized the city, and it was named Claudioseleukeia. Today the remains of the walls, the necropolis and traces of the theater can be made out; it was also a bishopric in the early Christian period.
