Firdevs Bey (Mimar Sinan) Mosque
Merkez, Isparta
A classical Ottoman mosque dated 1561, attributed to Mimar Sinan and a symbol of the city center.
Its story
Popularly known as the Mimar Sinan Mosque, the building was commissioned in the mid-16th century by Firdevs Bey, the sanjak governor of Hamid. With its single-domed prayer hall, late-comers' portico and cut-stone masonry, it is considered one of the fine provincial examples of classical Ottoman architecture. Together with the Firdevs Bey Bedesten and Üzüm Pazarı right next to it, the mosque forms a külliye-like ensemble. It is the natural starting point for a tour of the historic bazaar.
