Safety warning
Its story
Eğirdir Castle is positioned to defend the neck of the peninsula that extends into the lake. Its foundations were laid in the Byzantine period, and it was repaired and enlarged under the Seljuks and the Hamidids. Part of its walls, built with courses of brick and stone, still stands today, and some houses lean directly against the walls. From around the castle you can see both shores of the lake at once.
