Andoz Castle
Espiye, Giresun
A registered medieval castle built on a steep rock west of Espiye, dominating the mouth of the Yağlıdere valley.
Its story
The castle is 2–3 kilometers west of Espiye, on a steep rock about 250 meters high. Its single entrance to the north, two semicircular bastions and the remains of a barrel-vaulted structure to its east can be seen. Some parts of the castle, registered in 1990, have been restored. Its construction date is debated in sources; most researchers date the castle to the Middle Ages.
