Its story
The mosque is accepted to have been built during the rule of Alaüddevle Bozkurt Bey of the Dulkadirid Beylik, before 1515, the year the bey died. Construction is reported to have been carried out by the Armenian master builder Armenak Efendi and his foreman Kirkor; for this reason, details such as the pediment and columns of its mihrab show elements reminiscent of local churches. Its minaret, heavily damaged in the earthquakes of 6 February 2023, was rebuilt using the existing stones through the work of the General Directorate of Foundations, the cracks in its dome were repaired, and the mosque reopened for worship. It is a few steps from the Coppersmiths' Bazaar (Bakırcılar Çarşısı).
