Its story
The Ulus Monument was commissioned by the Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality and opened on 9 March 2019. At the very top of the monument is a statue of Atatürk; the lower tiers are lined with reliefs telling the story of the War of Independence and the Republic's achievements in education, industry, science and art. Mounted figures at ground level facing the four directions represent the pre-Republican period. The statue and reliefs are the work of the Iranian sculptor Afshin Esfandyari. The square where it stands was named Ulus Square in 2021.
