Its story
The mansion, built in the late 19th century, was used in 1915–1916 as the German Consulate and then as the governor's residence. Mustafa Kemal Paşa and his companions settled here on 9 July 1919 and carried out the work of the Erzurum Congress in this house for 52 days, until 29 August. During his visit in 1924, the house was presented to Atatürk on behalf of the city with its title deed and a golden key. The building opened as a museum on 3 October 1984. The ground floor displays belongings and documents of Kazım Karabekir, Kazım Yurdalan and Raif Dinç, and the printing press on which the Albayrak newspaper and the congress declarations were printed; the upper floor displays photographs of the congress delegates.
