Its story
The Kurşunlu Mosque was built in 1739 by Osman Ağa, the bey of Çarsancak; it is thought to take its name from the lead (kurşun) cladding covering its dome. One of the mosque's notable pieces is its old wooden minbar, said to have been brought from the Harput Ulu Mosque and reportedly crafted without nails. The old plane trees in its courtyard are said to be as old as the mosque; GoTürkiye's Harput route also recommends that visitors take a break in the shade of these plane trees. As it lies within the same historic fabric as the castle, the Ulu Mosque and the Sarahatun Mosque, it is a convenient stop for those exploring Harput on foot. The calm of the courtyard offers a short rest even on busy days.
