Its story

Construction of Eski Mosque was begun by Süleyman Çelebi in 1403, during the Interregnum, and completed by Çelebi Mehmed in 1414. According to its inscription, its architect was Hacı Alaeddin of Konya. The square plan is covered by nine equal domes; this arrangement continues the multi-domed tradition of the Bursa Ulu Mosque. The large calligraphic inscriptions covering the interior walls are the work of calligraphers of different periods. A stone beside the mihrab, said to have been brought from the Kaaba, draws visitors' attention.
